Torre di Santa Maria
Tower of Santa Maria is the first town you meet coming from Valtellina. The municipality has 892 inhabitants at an altitude of 800m above sea level Torre is in desrta bank of Mallero, at the junction between the latter and the stream Torreggio, tragically famous for the damage caused during the catastrophic flood of 1987. The Torreggio is aimentato the catchment area of the glacier of Mount Accident. Share in the joint is full of pastures and meadows, known and appreciated in the summer months, as the Alpe Arcoglio, easily accessible with your car. The town is also the starting point of the Alta Via Valmalenco, and path that winds through the whole Valmalenco, altitude, touching all principalli shelters and offering breathtaking scenery for hikers who engage in the adventure
