Val Masino
Also called the Yellowstone of Italy, in the heart of the massive intrusive of Pluto Masino-Bergell, there is this lovely valley.
The town is formed by the two main districts: Cataeggio, Filorera and San Martino.
Cataeggio and Filorera are the first two that meet continuing on the provincial road 404.
San Martino is crowded with climbers from all over the world as soon as the weather gets warmer. . Here you can breathe a fresh air full of awe and respect for the immense walls that surround it.
Following the road to the right you enter the magnificent and unique Val di mello, surrounded by granite vertical walls, while on the left you reach the baths of masino. This is the starting point to reach the shelters Giannetti and Omio places at an altitude of 2534m and 2100m respectively.
Val Masino, during the month of May there is the well-known Melloblocco reminiscent of Boulder lovers from all over the world and gives birth to a challenge of the greatest existing specialia athletes.
Another event worth mentioning is The Great Race on the Way Rome
The Kima Trophy, is held the third Sunday of August. The route of the marathon retraces the famous Rome Trail. Technically high mountain presents: with start and finish in Filorera (870 m.) The route touches the Refuge Bridges, Rifugio Allievi-Bonacossa, Rifugio Gianetti, Rifugio Omio, and through the nozzle Rome, the Cameraccio Pass, Torrone Pass, the Averta Pass, the Qualido Pass, the Camerozzo Pass, the Barbican Pass, and the Bagni di Masino through the Plain of Bregolana, touching San Martino, and again Filorera. A ride of 48 km. and 203 m., with a climb of 3650 m., crossing 7 steps all above 2500 m. ; maximum quota step Cameraccio 2950m.
