Ponte in Valtellina
It 'a town of 2400 inhabitants, is situated in the Valtellina valley in the foothills of the Rhon summit and extends from the Rhaetian to that orobico.
The town stands on the alluvial cone of the river Rhon, surrounded by apple orchards and vineyards
The name Vico Bridge appears for the first time in 918 and derives from the Middle High German biunte, administrative Lombard term designating a fenced field and cultivated. According to others it would, however, refer to a bridge over the River Adda, or to a crossing over the river Rhon.
