Piateda
The Piateda origins are remote as most of the municipalities of Valtellina; through the rock carvings discovered in Chiuro, Teglio and Grosio, the valley was already inhabited in II BC from related populations to those of Valcamonica least on the sunny side Rhaetian.
Hardly the slope orobico, for the more hostile climate and the harshness of the territory could call up permanent settlements, however, either by the progressive colonization, either for the link roads through the valleys and the Vedello crossings, Ambria and Venina with neighboring Bergamo valleys they were to form the first human settlements.
Currently Piateda is known worldwide for having hosted in 2014, for the first time in Valtellina and in Lombardy, the second in Italy, the World Canoeing down the rapids of the river Adda. A wonderful river, natural ground for the best paddlers at international level, which runs through the Valtellina .. After the Canoe Junior Europeans in 2008, the European Senior Canoe in 2009, the Rafting European Cup in 2011, the Italian Championship in 2012 and two editions of the World Canoe, respectively in 2010 and 2013 Cup, Adda Viva Indomita Valtellina River obtained by the International Canoe Federation the award of the World Canoe.
